Our "Make it with Mom Monday" was a little different yesterday as we were invited to a friends' home for dinner. However, we did make a delicious yummy fruit salad to take & share. The boys picked out the fruits they wanted and it was a great combination.
Raspberries, Strawberries, Blueberries, & Mango
It looked so pretty with all those primary colors mixed together. It was a perfect summer treat too!

Happy Father's Day!
I saw a similar idea on another blog recently with "DAD". Many of you know that our boys do not call JM "Dad" but "Dadu". I love word art so I thought we just had to do this. Also because the boys will eventually not call him that anymore. I know JM will treasure this even more when they are "grown up"! And won't this look great in his new office!?
John Mark we think you are the best! The boys were so excited to make you things for today. I enjoyed seeing their excitement leading up to today as they created, painted, colored, & hid their special handmade gifts. You are a treasure!

I Love . . .
~ the new Christy Nockels CD
~ taboulli from Trader Joes (I'm heading out to get some in a few minutes)
~ breakfast date with my man at Chik Fil A (I've never been there w/out the boys)
~ Vacation Bible School (the boys love it too ~ J even said I want to come here for Bible School every year! . . . good thing!)
~ winning a give away I'll let you know how the book is
~ Make it with Mom Monday ~ while I'm glad the boys are excited about it, they want to make the same thing as last week. We will since we are making for Memaw & Papaw too. We will do something different next week. So it's chicken pockets, mac & cheese, asparagus this time, blueberries & cherrys and pudding pops.
~ a laid back rainy day
~ going to a great picnic, meeting new people, watching the boys enjoy a pool
~ baking with the boys I'm thinking some lemon bars are also in our afternoon plans.
~ thinking about a visit to Maymont later this week to play, picnic & take pictures
~ that it's SUMMER!

Terri's Tip Today!
Our Jacob is so sweet he's been getting a little eaten up by some summer pests . . . MOSQUITOS! So I asked my sweet friend Terri what she does with her own daughter and here are her safe suggestions.
How to Repel Mosquitos Naturally
When choosing a mosquito repellant, look for a brand with the active ingredient of citronella oil instead of the chemical DEET. I just purchased a bottle of Buzz Away that contains Citronella Oil, essential oils, purified water, grain alcohol, and castor oil.
Also, mosquitos typically live very close to where they were born and they are born in standing water. So, look around your yard and eliminate any pools of stagnant water that may breed mosquitos and you will reduce the number of these pests around your home.
Lastly, if you are going to be out during "feeding time" in the evenings, wear lightweight long sleeved garments and pants to reduce the opportunity for bites. If you do choose to use DEET products, just put them on the few exposed areas or on clothing, but NEVER, EVER UNDER clothing. (this causes increased absorption into the bloodstream)
Enjoy the great outdoors this summer!
If you haven't checked out her book ~ it's not too late! Our family is still in the process of changing one thing at a time.

Want an Invitation?
I just love it that our boy wants to blog as well. I think it is adorable and a great way to keep his mind going. We have set his blog to private but if you are interested in reading & encouraging him please email me and I'll add you to his list! He's an author!
